I'm befuzzled.

Well, it's kinda a coin toss. Currently this birthmother is the "cheapest" to adopt from. We would have to pay medical, but we wouldn't have passthrough expenses, such as rent and transportation, which other mothers have. However, if she needs a c-section, it could become more expensive. So, we don't really know.

On the other hand, hospitals set up payment plans, so that might mean we can pay it off more slowly and not tighten our budget drastically at the same time we are getting a kid.

Oh, and it looks like it's a boy. Like I said, we'll still meet in a couple of weeks, and have more to say then.

We may have to say no.

For reasons that are best not gone into on such a public forum, the adoptive couple may have to pay the medical costs of the birthmother. I assure you that there is absolutely no reason for this to be the case. Nevertheless, it is.

However, we are still planning a meeting with her and will attempt that in two weeks. Perhaps we will have happier news, then. Costs can range from 6k to 12k. We simply don't have that. So, we will likely have to say no, if things stay the same.

It is truly baffling.

Just to post.

We went on vacation. So, I haven't posted in quite a while. We did get a call on Tuesday of our vacation, saying the new birthmother wanted to meet with us the following day. We, of course, were in Florida, so we are trying to set up a new date. She did have a doctor's appointment on the 21st, but we haven't heard any news from it either.

I'll work on getting details and get back to ya.

What is in a name?

Got me. But the birthmother's name is Tiffany. That's really the only new news we have. She wants to meet with us, but we're not sure when. We're fixing to go on vacation and then the baby is due just a couple of weeks later. So, there is a time crunch.

Bleh, I need the vacation.

Money, money, money ... MONEY

To quote Brian...

But anyhow, we've saved $10,090.73. A momentus day indeed. That number includes the $3000 we've already paid, but the important thing is, it means that should it arrise we can pay the preplacement fee out right.

I know. I know. What's a preplacement fee? Well, basically we have to pay $1500 for a home study and another $8500 before we pick up a kid. We are currently paying $500 installments, but should a child be placed with us, we'd ahve to pay the remainder immediately. For the first time, we actually have enough cash to do that.

Cash is the opperative word there. The agency doesn't take credit cards, so we have to come up with real cash. This has meant us going more in debt, but that should be a short term issue. We are hoping to have the rest of the $5000 we expect to need by the end of the year, but it all depends on when we get a kid and thusly, when Bonny needs to stop working.

Anyhow, this wasn't much to report, but anything to get the last post pushed a little further down the page.

Look what you've done, Bonny.

LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE ! ! !

Censorship

It seems some newspapers demanded a different version.

Censorship facinates me.

Maybe next time I'll have something to post about the adoption. Or *gasp*, Bonny might post.

Haven't posted in a while...

because nothing is really happening. They have our profile, but are having to get some other things out of the way, since they have just recently made contact with her. The adoption agency is wanting a doctor they are familiar with to give her a check up. The birthmom is having the doctor's appoint today or tomorrow. Hopefully, it will help give a more definite due date and a better view into the health of the child.
