Jason update

I know several of you have wondered, since Jason's blood tests, what exactly is going on.

Well, we don't really know. They are scheduling several tests for him. Some of the bio chemestry specialists aren't available until much later in the summer. So, other tests are being performed in the mean time. Now don't freak out, because they are doing tests for things they don't particularly expect to find. They are testing for any wild posibility it might be. So, there will be GI tests. He had a TB test today. He'll get some stool, urine and sweat tests. And there will be a whole bunch more...till they figure out what is up.

Poor little guy is wearing a bag on his "wee wee" as his mom put it.

Last time, they said mix his formula a little thicker. We did that and he started eating less to compensate. :/

We'll keep you updated. Keep him in your prayers.

Chompers

Well, for any who didn't know yet, Jason has a second tooth as of Saturday. He is now tied with Zoë in the great tooth race. Zoë is still ahead in the eating game though. Jason has only recently decided baby food may be okay to eat after all, while Zoë has been packing it away since she was 4 months old. He'll have to give in the inevitability of food one of these days. With great teeth comes great responsibility, or something like that. ^_^

Shocking News

Well, not shocking yet...

But guess what new trick Zoë learned. She's figured out how to take plug covers out of the wall. So, we had to tape the covers into it. She hasn't figured that out yet, but I'm sure it won't be long.

Jason is beginning to decide being on his stomach might not be so bad. He rolled onto his stomach and was happy there for almost 15 minutes. A NEW RECORD.

Blood tests

Well, Jason's "correct" blood tests are finally done. Everything was good except for one of them. His carbon dioxide levels are low... So, they are going to do some follow up tests. The doctor said it might be effecting his metabolism.

It's nothing to freak out about, though. The effects will more than likely be minor if at all existant.

All I want is my one front tooth...

And that's all he has. Jason has had one tooth break the surface. I guess he likes chewing on that side more. :)

New Pics

I just happen to have these pics handy. So, get them while their hot. I'll probably only keep them up for 4 or 5 days.

I know... I know...

Where are the movies and pictures?

I'm getting to it. It has been a very busy week. A gospel meeting has eaten up most all my free time. Plus we are trying to get ready for mother's day.

Apparently, we are continually confussed...

We keep saying Jason's birthday is October 28th. I think I even posted his half year birthday wrong. In fact, I know I did, because I commented on the banner being wrong. But, it's not wrong.

Ah well...

It's actually the 27th.

I probably just wanted in on the 28th cause I'm a sucker for even numbers.

I'm so weird.

Aww Man...

One of the tests came back low and now they are going to take more of his blood. Now, I'm stuck at work. I hate not being there for stuff like this. I never get the full story...something's low...I don't even know what.

Bah...

4 in the legs and 1 in the arm

But honestly, I think the arm was about 300 times worse than the legs. Jason got his six month shots today. For that, we lay him down. The nurse pins his legs and I hold down his arms. Painful, but really not a big deal. However at phlebotomy fun land, it was a different story. He's old enough that they go in the arm. It took 14 attempts. For this he sits on my leg. I pin his feet between my legs. I hold his body and arm with one hand. I cradle his head to my chest with the other. I talk to his. He cries and cries. On the 6th and 10th attempts he shrieked in pain. By the 12th and through out the rest of the even he just wimpered. He lost 8ccs of blood and about 4ccs of tears, all because he didn't weigh enough. The doctor gave us some tips to help beef him up. Hopefully, they will work.

Oh, and get this. They put the tourniquet on him and he begins crying. I could tell that, it alone was quite uncomfortable. It was pinching him in about 4 places. Then they pull out the needle. I comment, "Man that's a big needle." It looked to be to be about the size of his vein. The nurse says, "You going to be able to handle this." I wish Jason could have answered. I was wondering the same thing. I look down at Jason expecting him to be particularly wide eyed, but he is crying with his eyes almost closed. They I notice nobody is doing anything. I look at the nurse and say, "What?".

"Are you going to be able to handle this?"

"Me!?! Yeah, he's the one that's going to be having problems."

I guess some parents have problems with needles. I hadn't even realized what she was asking. I almost cried just from the fear, pain and helplessness, in his voice, but not from the needle.

After we were done, he stoped crying almost immediately. He was exhausted. He even stop wimpering. He just laid against my chest and let a few more tears fall. She jabbed and twisted the needle so much, that he's going to have a quarter sized bruise. It'll be so big it will wrap around his arm some. The labs never have good phlebotomists. I wish we had done it at the hospital. It would have taken that lady only one or two sticks...

I'm glad I did it rather than Bonny. I guess it's my instinct to shield from pain. Jason was getting the pain, any way you went about it. I could at least shield Bonny. There was only one door between Bonny and us, but she couldn't hear... They probably sound proof the rooms... :/

Ahh well, I'm in for a long day at work. I better get to it.
